HISTORY 1759-1900
1763. On November, 15 Ekaterina II issued ordinance to transfer Votkinsky factory in state owning.
1779. Under ordinance of Ekaterina II construction of factory for producing of anchors 3 to 335 pounds for Navy was started.
1782. First two anchors were manufactured. Anchor production had existed at Votkinsky factory for 140 years.
1793. Two new shops were built to accommodate 16 hammers and 18 hearths.
1808. Tool-shop was built. It became a progenitor of modern mechanical production. The tool-shop was equipped with 1 lathe, 2 drilling and 1 threading machine-tools.

Chaikovsky's family
1810. First Russian sheet mill was put into service.
1812. First Russian tool steel was produced by engineer Badaev.
1815. First brick shop was built.
1823. One of the first technical libraries in Russia was opened.
1828. Under Emperor's ordinance Votkinsky factory was granted status of a separate Kamsko-Votkinsky District. From 12 to 25 of December first iron fair took place.
1829. On June, 19 mineralogy show room was opened; it was transformed soon to first Ural factory museum.
1831. Votkinsky factory participated in first Moscow exhibition.
1832. Nikolaevsky admin building was constructed; later it became a symbol of the factory.
1837. On January, 8, lieutenant colonel of Mine Engineer Corps Ilya Chaikovsky - father of great Russian composer Petr Chaikovsky - was appointed as director of Votkinsky factory.
1839. Order on metalwork for St. Petersburg palaces under construction was fulfilled.
1840. On May, 7 (April, 25, old style) the great Russian composer Petr Chaikovsky was born in Votkinsk.
1845. Production of steel for Navy ships started.
1847. On September, 6 first steam-boat with metal hull was started.
1848. On August, 1, a mine school was opened at the factory.
1858. An important order on production and assembling of Petropavlovskaya Fortress Cathedral spire in St. Petersburg was fulfilled.
1862. At International exhibition in London factory's production was awarded with Big Bronze Medal.
1863. Armor steel mill shop was built.
1868. The factory was second in Russia to start producing heavy steam engines. It made 630 steam engines in total.
1871. On February, 18, first Ural open-hearth furnace was started.
1876. At International exhibitions in Paris and Philadelphia factory was awarded with Big Bronze Medals.
1882. At International exhibition in Moscow factory was awarded with Big Gold Medal for its samples of open-hearth furnace metal, copper and forgeable cast iron.
1886. Agricultural appliances production had been started. Factory was awarded with two gold medals of Emperor's Russian Technical Society for metal processing and construction of bridges.
1887. Three gold medals at Siberian-Ural exhibition in Yekaterinburg for high quality of agricultural appliances, bridge and boiler equipment.
1891. Votkinsky factory started constructing railroad bridges.
1893. At International exhibition in Chicago, dedicated to 400 anniversary of discovery of America, Votkinsky factory was awarded with gold medal for its samples of cast and forged steel.
1896. Electrical metal welding by Slavyanov method was used at the factory among the first.
